New clients often ask, "What is the process?" and "How long will it take?" While each project is unique, we'd like to provide you with a general overview of greenhouse design, manufacturing and installation.

The Design Consultation

Greenhouses can be free-standing or attached to another structure. A free-standing Greenhouse is more flexible in location and has less interface requirements. The attached Greenhouse structure will require more planning, but some clients feel this location is more convenient to access and connect to the necessary utilities.

Location
Location is of course important. A southern pr western exposure will reduce winter heating costs, but require summer shading and cooling requirements.

Deciduous trees placed to block summer heat can be an advantage. Eastern and northern exposures are also acceptable locations. Our Greenhouses are insulated glass, so heat loss is less of a concern.

Proposal
Once a suitable location is determined, we present an initial cost estimate. If that is acceptable, we prepare a firm proposal, defining our Scope of Work and Specifications for the Project including exclusions. On acceptance of our proposal and down payment we prepare shop drawings of the structure and site preparation requirements. Some projects require a Structural Engineer's calculations. We have engineering for all our stand sizes and configurations. Site specific Engineering is available at additional expense.

Site Preparation
The client will co-ordinate construction of concrete foundation per dimensions and details furnished on shop drawings, including electrical, water and possibly natural gas utilities. We will discuss these requirements and assist with the selection of equipment and installation. The client is also responsible for the connection of any equipment supplied by the licensed contractor as well as all interior floor finishes and exterior grading.

Fabrication
Greenhouse structures are fabricated from our stock length aluminum extrusions. The fabricated components are shipped to a licenses Architectural coating applicator. Finished components are returned to our shop and pre assembled in sections for site delivery and installation. The Insulated glass is ordered from our certified supplier of Insulated Glass and shipped to our facility for delivery and installation.

Assembly
The on site assembly of a greenhouse depends on the size of the building and access for delivery of materials. Our smallest greenhouse takes approximately 3 to 4 days to install. The average size structure, 13' x 19', can be installed in approximately one week. Many factors can affect the time required for installation.

Training and Consultation
Your greenhouse is a functioning system and requires year-round operation and care. Renaissance Greenhouses will provide on-site training to help you get started, and ongoing support for operation, systems and repairs as needed.
