The
Design Phase
Greenhouses can be free-standing or attached to another structure. A free-standing Greehouse is more flexible in location and has leess interface requirements. The attached Greehouse structure will require more planning, but some clinets feel this location is more convenient to acces and connect to the necessary utilities. Location is of course important. A southern pr western exposure will reduce winter heating costs, but require summer shading and cooling requirements. Deciduous trees placed to block summer heat can be an advantage. Eastern and northern exposures are also acceptable locations. Our Greenhouses are insulated glass, so heat loss is less of a concern. Once a suitable location is determined, we present an initial cost estimate. If that is acceptable, we prepare a firm proposal, defining our Scope of Work and Specifications for the Project including exclusions. On acceptance of our proposal and down payment we prepare shop drawings of the structure and site preparation requirements. Some projects require a Structural Engineer's calculations. We have engineering for all our stand sizes and configurations. Site specific Engineering is available at additional expense. What does the client have to do for site preparation? Our Shop Greenhouse structures are fabricated from our stock length aluminum extrusions. The fabricated components are shipped to a licences Architactural coating applicator. Finished components are returned to our shop and preassembled in sections for site delivery and installation. The Insulated glass is ordered from our Certified supplier of Insulated Glass and shipped to our facility for delivery and installation. On Site The on site assembly of a greenhouse depends on the size of the building and access for delivery of materials. Our smallest greenhouse takes approximately 3 to 4 days to install. The average size structure, 13' x 19', can be installed in appromimately one week. Many factors can affect the time required for installation.
